OECD (2023), Corporate finance and corporate governance in ASEAN economies

Social

In preparation for the upcoming OECD Roundtable and in anticipation of a review of the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ASGS), the OECD recently released a report titled “Corporate finance and corporate governance in ASEAN economies”. This report focuses on the significant developments in capital markets and corporate governance within the ASEAN region, specifically highlighting six participating economies: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

The report consists of two chapters. The first chapter examines the major trends and current status of the capital market landscape in the aforementioned ASEAN economies. Following that, the report delves into an explanation of the regulatory frameworks for corporate governance, which are linked to the prominent trends observed in the regional capital markets. It also addresses key issues considered during the recent review of the G20/OECD Principles of Corporate Governance.
