Rupini Deepa Sobottka

Independent ESG & Stewardship Advisor

Rupini is an independent ESG and stewardship advisor. From 2018, she led the ESG Office at Berenberg Wealth and Asset Management, where she was responsible for the firm’s ESG policy, strategy, investment positioning, integration, product development, and innovation initiatives. She established Berenberg WAM’s proxy voting framework and designed its engagement and stewardship strategy.

Prior to this role, she served as a Junior Professor of Business Administration with a focus on Social Investment at the University of Hamburg. Earlier in her career, she held various roles across banking and consulting in the United States and Malaysia. Rupini holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Reading and is a member of the DVFA Sustainable Investing Commission as well as the DSRC Sustainability Reporting Technical Committee in Germany.
